I am one who is grateful that each day I am breathing. A bonus is a clear, cold drink of water as having been in some of the places I have been there is nothing better than being able to depend on the simplest of things of life. Once a person understands this the rest of what we do kind of gets in the way of happiness.
Being happy should be made as simple as possible because joy through complexity becomes a hamster’s wheel upon which we have to run to keep it spinning.
It could have been my “employment” in Vietnam that made this thinking possible for me but also, we didn’t have a lot as kids back in the 1950s. We had enough though. Having enough is better than many people are allowed on this planet and we are not alone in misery. It is just that we may not have a right to be miserable when we consider the lack of others, far less fortunate.
There has been a trend in the first part of this century to believe that we are owed. We are owed not a blessed thing. What we have in America is exceptional but keeping this way of life requires teamwork between people who do not know each other. This is where stringent morality is missed as the lack of morality is the devil’s playground and that one loves nothing better than conflict where none is needed.
Who is actually running this planet is in question now. Everywhere we see conflict or potential conflict and this should not be dismissed with the statement, “It cannot happen here.” The seeds are sewn already and are just awaiting the rain of immorality.
